Gun Control Question for people that are against it?

I have a question for the people that belong to the NRA & don't believe in gun control. Please for those of you who answer who are for gun control I am too so I don't want this to turn into an argument. I have a very bad temper but I have no arrests, felony or misdameanor convictions but I know that if I owned a gun I would be doing 20 to life because someone would have done something to get me to the point where I would use it. Of course I would be sorry 10 minutes later but many lives would have already been ruined. Now there are people who do have a temper like me that aren't smart enough to know that they shouldn't have one, how would you purpose to keep guns away from them? Without violating your rights? My friend despises people who want to take away his right to bear arms is a member of the NRA but he thinks that there should be some way to keep them away from people like me. What would your idea be?

You've answered your own question! You have access to guns, but are smart enough to stay away from them. I once saw a guy pull a knife on another guy. When the unarmed guy rushed at the weapon holder, the first thing the weapon holder did was throw the knife as far as he could. He had been bluffing and really didn't want to stab anybody.
I once had a guy pull a knife on me in my store and attack. The only reason I wasn't injured was an employee pulled a gun from behind the counter. Your bad temper shouldn't infringe on my safety and self protection.

First of all, you're under the assumption that everyone who obtains a weapon does so through legal means and through a gun shop. Not so. If a person who wanted to illegally obtain a gun wanted one, he could get one. Guns are illegal in Britain, but yet they have shootings. Why? Because criminals are going to obtain weapons regardless of the law.

If you do not have the temperment to be a responsible gun owner, then I applaud you for not buying one. But we cannot control a person who wants a gun, but is not necessarily responsible to have one. He/She is going to obtain that gun either legally or illegally if they really want one.

You do not take away the Constitutional rights of ALL citizens because you have bad apples causing problems in the barrel. Your friend is correct that he does have a right to legal ownership of firearms. And no one should take them from him.

I have no objections to waiting periods to check the backgrounds of those attempting to purchase a legal firearm. If one is of good moral character and responsible, then they have nothing to hide. But you do not deny the entire population a right because a few liberals in government don't like guns.
