Are you an idiot.....for years reams of paper lurked just below the surface of ancient Egypt, mostly notebook paper ( the kind with the holes). It was discovered accidentally by a well-digging crew in 1856. Since then, High Gloss printing paper was discovered in Alaska, but it's on National Park land so we can't mine it. Europe has vast reserves of cigarette paper in the Rhine River valley. The future looks gloomy for paper as we only have enough to last for an estimated 45 years, perhaps with satellitemore s we may be able to locate paper under the sea bed.

Paper is an invention because what is created is an invention. Paper was first said to be made by the Egyptians. Though there are references of paper in other ancient cultures such as Indian and Assyrian cultures.

Probably an invention because paper can't just be discovered because trees can't just turn into fine pulp and turn into paper. People would have to invent the process of making paper from trees.

The word paper comes from the Greek term for the ancient Egyptian writing material called papyrus, which was formed from beaten strips of papyrus plants. Papyrus was produced as early as 3000 BC in Egypt, and sold to ancient Greece and Rome.

Paper is considered to be one of the Four Great Inventions of Ancient China.

Formed from wood pulp or plant fiber, paper is chiefly used for written communication. The earliest paper was papyrus, made from reeds by the ancient Egyptians. Paper was made by the Chinese in the second century, probably by a Chinese court official named Cai Lun. His paper was made from such things as tree bark and old fish netting. Recognized almost immediately as a valuable secret, it was 500 years before the Japanese acquired knowledge of the method. Papermaking was known in the Islamic world from the end of the eighth century A.D.

It's an invention.

As a general rule:
To invent things means to create them, they did not exist before.
To discover things means to find and get to know things that exist already.
