Well, if I were you, I would Google this one allot because if you toast your processor, you might have to fork over another 20$ for a new 233MHz ;)

Seriously, a given generation of processors is "usually" very similar, just some have better heat dissipation rates than others, for the most part (though there are some small differences.)

For you, this means that if a 133MHz and a 233MHz are different only in their heat dissipation rates, then you could make a 133MHz perform like a 233MHz if you could cool it.

Long story short, you will have to go to your BIOS and/or jumpers, change BOTH the bus multiplier AND the voltage, THEN provide more than ample cooling.

I wouldn't expect it to work for more than a few weeks without some serious cooling, like installing a liquid cooling system.

However, this would defeat the purpose as it would cost more than a new 2GHz computer.

Over clocking for any reasonable performance gain is generally a bad thing to do, unless you hate your computer.

Anyways, hope I didn't rain on your parade too badly :(

And no, a processor is not hard to change. However, there are many different kinds.so you will have to figure out what kind processor it is. There should be some documentation regarding whether you have a 486 (which does support 133MHz) or a 586 (Pentium I processor series). If it's a 486, then 133MHz is as fast as it goes.

Find these answers, then you will have a better clue on to whether it even can be upgraded.

Hope that helps.

It seems a bit of a lost cause to me, I suppose its quite an old system. I think you will find that whether you can replace the CPU will be determined by what your Mother Board can support. Even if you could replace the CPU other factors would come in to play including the amount, and speed of Random Access Memory (RAM) you have available. I think you will find that, even if you could, that the cost of upgrading a computer of any great age is prohibitively expensive. It would be cheaper and more practical to buy a basic entry computer, I am sorry if my reply appears very negative.

hi i'd be telling you the various guidelines i comprehend. a million. pass to All classes > upload-ons> equipment equipment > Disk Defragmenter 2. go with the rigidity> then click on th button study> It promises the popup> so that you're going to come back to charm to close to defragment or no longer> If it provides a mesage "you should defragment this quantity" then click on the button 'Defragment'. So this boost yours computer %. do this per week to mantain your computer %. Cheers Quills
