Ok, so in gym class in high school we have to swim. I cant use tampons due to medical reasons, so i am stuck in a dilemma whenever i have my period. I am allowed to sit out once or twice a month with a parents note for my teacher, and i have to make up swimming on my free time (which is such a drag). So I dont have a problem with exuses for my teacher, but what i DO have a problem with is exuses for my peers. Whenever they ask me why i am sitting out on the bench, i have to make up dumb exuses like, uh....i have an ear infection... or, oh, i forgot my bathing suit. Pretty soon they'll think i am extremely stupid... or they will be suspicious of something. And i dont want to be too mean or touchy by saying "its none of your buisness" because that would be kind of mean and also suspisous. I just don't like my privacy being violated, and i refuse to tell them the truth because i dont want the whole class knowing, i dont thing most people would! What are some good ideas for exuses? thanks!

ok guys thanks for the answers, but really I do not want to tell the truth.... come on, its harder than it sounds! there are 50 people in my class, and if i tell one person, then soon all 50 people will know I'm on my period while I sit on the side with them watching. Doesn't sound very personal anymore, does it? So please be sensitive to my feelings and answer my question: what EXCUSES can i use?

There really are no good excuses. If these people are your peers, then you shouldn't mind them knowing you have a period. You are in fact, a female, and all females have em! It's not like you're doing anything weird or different. Life's too short to sugar-coat it for em sweetie! You're just a normal person. There's nothing odd about having your period and nothing odd about having to wear pads. If your friends ask, you shouldn't mind being honest. If someone whose not your friend asks, then you shouldn't mind telling them its personal, or to mind their own business!

a million. i would not attempt it 2. in all probability in case you stayed interior the water the entire time yet once you acquire out it can be a concern 3. specific 4. specific 5. Cramps... If this is type i'm valuable the instructor would not wanna flow any added in case you basically reported you had cramps or forgot your journey. you may flow to the nurse and say you experience ill too. The tension from the water stops your era from flowing out yet basically once you're interior the water. additionally tampons are actually not uncomfortable you would be putting them incorrectly for them to experience like that. that's recommended to objective a diverse attitude and in line with danger yet another form some are greater gentle to put in. additionally remember to positioned the applicator thoroughly in formerly pushing the tampon area interior you. a lot of people have been there however, do no longer subject you will parent it out. good success.

No gym class should rule over what is very personal for a young woman, No gym class.
I would tell your teacher and your principle that rule has to change to save any embarrassment.
Is it acceptable to pee in the pool or to have girls swim around in pools with a trail of blood behind them?
Its not acceptable these days and that is your right to not swim in the pool while in that condition, girl you don't need no Excuse!

The problem is, people are going to know the truth. Your peers aren't stupid; they will figure out that you simply won't (or can't) swim during your period, and they'll be more likely to make fun of you for it if you aren't honest. You seem to be looking for an answer that doesn't exist: There is no excuse that will hide the truth. Either lie (ear infection, stomach ache) or tell the truth. Better yet, just say, "I'm not feeling very well today and my mother wrote a note. Thanks."
Why don't you ask the teacher if you can be in the library those days?

is your medical reason as to not being able to use tampons because you don't know how to get them in... im so happy that my high doesn't have a pool but this happened to me last year in middle school. i sat out for one day and said i forgot my bathing suit. but i knew other girls that would have their moms write a note saying you just got over a bad cold or something and that got them out of it. or say you have swimmers ear, i had a friend who was scared to swim in the lake at camp so she got out of swimming for about 3 weeks by having a note saying she had swimmers ear. you could do that or get a pass to the library if your school allows that and instead of siting on the bench you could go study in the library during your gym period, if anybody asks where you were you can say you got called down to guidance or something like that. worked at my school.

I don't understand why it is always such a big deal with girls with swimming on their period. It's GOOD to exercise while on the rag. But if you must have excuses, tell your friends that you're sick, or that your cat just died so you're sitting out gym, or that you have a doctors appointment after school so you didn't want to get your hair wet or something. Honestly, you can swim with your period without a tampon in. The water surrounding you will not turn all red or anything. I've done it before because I couldn't wear tampons before (I was too scared). So eventually I just started swimming without a pad and it was all good. It's not like the toilet where the water turns red because pool water has so much chlorine and whatnot. The only thing is it would screw up the school's pH level. But if you decide to continue making excuses for your friends that won't be a problem. I just don't understand why you would want to lie to your friends. I'm sure they would understand. But it's your decision. I would just tell them you have a doctor's appointment and therefore, you can't get in the pool.

Honestly, you don't have to tell them anything. Just a simple I can't swim today should be enough. Then change the subject. (Besides, I'm sure most of the girls already know why.) Hope that helps.

It's a part of a women's life cycle. i am going to go out on a limb and believe your friends have yet to see their menstrual cycle or they are allowed to wear "up close and personal things". You shouldn't have to cower or be embarrassed, and if they tend to make fun of you then they are not your friends. If you feel you need to explain why you are not swimming tell them"I've got bubbling eggs" i garantee they wont be some inqusitive anymore. Worked for my daughter.

Say you don't feel real good. You have a cramp in your leg that wont go away. You have somewhere nice to be after school and can't smell like chlorine. Head ache. Stomach ache.
