how can I hook up cable directly to my laptop?

I have cable and I want to be able to watch it on my laptop, however, my T.V. is an older one and I can't hook it up directly to my laptop. Is there any sort of module or whatever that can connect my cable to my computer?

Yes its called a TV tuner card, I have one.

You need an analogue TV card (one that takes terrestial tv) or a video capture card in your laptop - you can get USB ones, you plug cable into that

You can get USB or PCMCIA TV tuner cards.
