I agree, I guess noone remembers the game in which OSU got stomped on by Wisconsin. They got rolled by North Carolina and lost by 26 at Florida. Now all those games were road games, I cite the Wisconsin game because it was a conference game. OSU is good, top 10 material, but I think there are alot of teams out there that could beat them (UNC, UCLA, Kansas, Tex A&M (most underrated team in college basketball), and I'd even give Georgetown a shot against them. The networks love to hype Greg Oden (15.5 ppg, 9.7 rpg), but there are plenty of comparable guys out there (Brandan Wright at UNC averages 14.9 and 6.4, while shooting 66% from the field). When it comes down to it, rankings won't matter because we have a tournament to decide these things, unlike college football and the BCS.

Count the losses. It's very simple really. They play in a high major conference and have fewer losses than all but two other high major schools (Wisconsin and UCLA have an equal number of losses). Should OSU win tomorrow it will be UCLA or OSU at #1. That's just how the rankings work.

....because the world LOVES OSU no matter what. They could finish with a losing record and still be ranked and make the NCAA tourney, even though the Big Ten conference is nothing compared to the Big East,SEC,or ACC.Their football program is the exact same way.I bet in the near future they'll become the 1st team to go to a bowl game with a losing record(seriously).Well, them or Notre Dame.

Just like the NCAAF rankings, its a bunch of sportswriters and analysts shoving their opinions down our throats. When it comes to the tourney however, all bets are off. Lately, no. 1 seeds have not faired well in the end, so just be glad your team has made it. Badgers will knock Buckeyes out of this no.1 ranking tonight anyway, so sit back, watch and enjoy.

The great thing is rankings in basketball really do not matter. They have a tournament. It could help their seed in the big dance, but they got to play to win. Greg Oden is why they remain ranked so high, by the way. It is all about hype.

i agree with logon17. They have a big fan base and everyone loves greg oden, playing with one good hand, blah blah blah.
I hate Ohio state, go blue. Ohio State will lose in the second round of the tournament. Just like they did to Georgetown last year. Go Blue!!!!

Because they have a huge fan base and they have such a large athletic program that many in the athletic community have ties to them. Also, all the media just loves their 40 yr old freshman. Okay, he's not 40, but does look it.

Their conference has a contract with ESPN. Since they had a marquee attraction in Greg Oden sportswriters and coaches(AKA the poll voters) know the name. Throw in their good record and they're top 10 looking material. I personally feel they're overrated and Wisconsin will expose them again tomorrow.
