It is the legacy of the British. As Christians, they were observing Sabbath on Sundays. It is religious mandate for Christians not to work but to rest, after a hard toil for six days, as God is believed to have done, while creating the universe.

Im no longer positive which one among them. yet i bear in thoughts many years in the past they wanting to call it an afternoon of Sabbath. meaning you relax take it ordinary be with kin and acquaintances, and prepared for the looong week ahead.
