I don't know about famous, but Dreamweaver is a really good program.

well, it depends onwhat you mean by "famous". Dreamweaver is great, and photoshop. But if you've never created a website before, or want a site up quickly, probably FrontPage. It's by Microsoft and most people know how to use Microsoft Office already. it has basically the same look as all the other office programs like word, excel, powerpoint, etc.
Lots of people LOVE Frontpage, and lots of people HATE it. it really comes down to what type of page you're making, and how experienced you are. (and other things, too but those are the main concerns to have)

Probably Dreamweaver, InDesign and Photoshop are some of the most common applications used to design and code websites.

a GOOD majority of people I know, myself included, use Microsoft Frontpage. I will admit it adds a LOT of unnecessary code to your pages, but if you're not editing raw HTML, than it doesnt matter anyway.
I think Dreamweaver is up there to with fireworks.

The most famous is NotePad. Hand coded in HTML...
Most used currently is DreamWeaver

Till date dreamweaver was no 1
But microsoft has released its web design tool Microsoft ExpressionWeb to compete against dreamweaver and i think it is better than dreamweaver,

Dreamweaver is the best for PC.
Freeway and Dreamweaver are the best for MAC.

Dreamweaver is easy to use and is great for people just learning. Its pretty expensive, but it's defenitely worth it if you want to do it professionally
