I am married for 17 years and not planning to divorce, but I hear of so many problems from people who do get a divorce, do you regret doing this, or how it effected your children etc.

he filed and no i dont regret it. he was an abusive ashole and a total freak. however we didnt have kids so i cant answer from someone with kids standpoint. sorry :) best of luck to you though. all i can say is if your miserable and hes making u feel like life is a living hell go for it!

When I got divorced I had been married for 21 years, but seperated for 5 months. Do I regret it, never.
When I was getting divorced, my lawyer said, are we going to go through all this, filing and court dates and then you'll end up back together? I told him that there was no way in the world that I would go back with him. Evidently it happens alot though.
I didn't go back with him. Can't stand to even see the sight of him these days. If we didn't have kids we would never ever see each other again.
don't think the kids cared, they were grown, but I hate being in the same room with him. I wish he would disappear from this world, but so far, no such luck.

Oh Hell no I don't regret filing for divorce. It got me out of the most depressing city in the U.S. Brought me back to my home State of California, reconnected me with all the friends I had missed during my 18 year entrapment. Allowed my daughter to see that she DID have other options for her life than child care/nursing/teaching. It allowed my daughter to grow and stretch her wings and make her own choices. It has all been poisitive..even the having to pinch every penny days have been worth it.
