I would guess because no two people are alike. A doctor will be evaluating all sorts of ailments. Practice makes perfect as they say and medicine is still a work in progress.

Medical science is such a flourishing field coming out with very new diseases ... and lot more & the scientists were trying out new vaccines, medicines ...
Being such a field the doctors should come to know about diffrent things daily & so it has been a practice for them not just a profession...

One of the reasons, I think, is 'practice makes perfect' since their profession requires precise expertise for the sake of their patients' survival and such expertise can be achieved by sheer practice, that is, the vital action necessary for any kind of disease or accident or operation.

Because learning requiers practical practice the more more practice the more confidence and knowledge. This proffesin needs virtually practical practice.

because they are forever learning,
getting better all the time
,and they have to practice on their patients
and we all know that practice make prefect
