Honestly, it's an ego boost for people, and they need some excuse to have someone in their coveted "First Spot" in their Top 8 that's not one of their real life friends. What better excuse to the "Why aren't I you're number one on myspace?" question than "Because my Scruffy is....duh!"
People hate dealing with confrontation and will avoid it at all cost. MySpace is a social experiment and well...it's pretty much anything goes in there.
