The Sims2 is so much more fun. But if you're young or not fond of using your brain, it can be frusterating at the beg. Sims1 is easier to learn on, but Sims2 is so much more fun. There's so much more to the game. For example: in TS1 (The Sims1), if you want your sims to have a baby, you have them kiss a few thousand times, (Not even remotely realistic, but whatever.) and then a baby appears, is a baby for a few days, and then becomes a child. The child then stays a child for it's whole miserable life, until you burn it in a fire. (As I always ended up doing. XD).... But, in TS2 (The Sims2), you can realistically "Woohoo" and the female sim becomes pregnant. Has the baby 3 days later. The baby becomes a todder and you get to expierience the "terrible two's", then the next stage is a child. And after child comes teenager. Finally, they become an adult to lead their own lives until, they become elders and eventually die.

TS2 has a junk load more to offer than just the child to adult thing.

The expansion packs are just an expansion of the game. An add on. They increase your gameplay. Maxis comes out with these to keep you buying their product and to keep the origonal product getting better without having to re-make an entire game.

If you have TS2 Pets for example, and you added on the "Family Fun Stuff" (Like I have), you'll get the benefits of both expansions. You'll only have to use the Pet's CD each time you want to play, though. So, I suggest buying the Sims2 without any expansion packs, then find a friend with all the expansions, install them all onto your computer, and just buy the most recent (Which, I believe is Pets right now.) so you have the most recent to put into your computer each time you play. That's good for getting you up to date on expansion packs. (If there's already a few out, which there are, and you're just now getting into TS2.)

Hope I helped!

Sims 1 is better if you're just starting out because Sims 2 is MUCH more complicated. There are many more details to work out, but if you're up for the challenge, they do give you tips in the game

Expansion packs are ADD ONs. Which means you need the original game first. They are just to add new features, objects, etc.
The ones like Hot Date (sims 1) and Night life (sims 2) add a downtown area with restaurants and such. Those are my favorites. BUt there many more expansions with more features. They make the game more fun without a doubt!

Sims 2, by skill of way way much extra effective. i replace into given the Sims a million with each and all of the advance packs final christmas, after attempting Sims 2. It replace into relaxing for a time as i attempted the advance packs, as they upload their own sort of magic, whether it is going to continuously be seen by skill of me as a incredibly common version of the sport. The Sims 2 provides extra relaxing and new good factors to play with. extra issues to do and on suitable of each and every thing, the completed sport is in 3-D, and you'd be able to rotate the digicam freely, particularly of the boring isometric view that could in basic terms rotate each and every ninety levels at a time. i desire i ought to assist you to with the determination. Oh, and by skill of ways, I heard they're already making Sims 3. yet i'm uncertain no remember if it is actual or not.

sims 2. i got it without trying sims 1 first and it's great. if you buy the Nightlife expansion pack i can tell you a whole lot of cheats to go with it eg.

motherlode --> 50k simoleons (their currency)
kaching --> 1k simoleons
aspirationlevel 7 --> full aspiration bar
maxmotives --> fulfill all your needs bars
familyfunds (insert family name) (insert amount) --> adjusts money count
moveobjects on --> can move objects that would otherwise be immovable, eg. puddles of water, espresso cups and even people. reversible by typing moveobjects off
aging off --> your sims can live forever! but this also means that your babies won't grow up. reversible by typing aging on

there are more i think

Sims 2 is definitely the way to go. It's a lot more fun than Sims 1.
