Buy a nice pair of 6" heels and practice in them for at least a week before you dance.
Pick a good club you want to use. Look at websites and check reviews. Good customer reviews aren't necessarily good.
Check the laws in your area and make sure you're willing - remember, you can always do LESS but you can never do MORE!
Pick your music and have your CDs ready.
When you've picked the club, check it's dress code. Then buy two outfits accordingly.
Do not go to the club with friends. Looks tacky.
Ask about tipouts and make sure you're okay forking over 50% of your hard earned cash.
Make sure your hair and makeup is done before you audition.
Make sure you are properly shaved/waxed in all areas and keep it that way everyday you go to work.
Pick up a stage-name. Use your imagination, be creative, Honey, Candy, Kitty... are probably all taken and too worn out.
Tips
Don't do drugs
Don't try pole tricks instantly other than basic spins
Do not talk to the other dancers when you're auditioning, no matter how nervous you are
Do not give compliments to everyone there.
When counting your money the first night - or any night - don't brag or show your money
Always keep your money on you at work - and don't bring any TO work
Don't hand out advice
Don't say 'wanna dance'
Don't give your phone number or real name to customers.
Move slowly on stage your first times until you feel your groove
To prevent irritation after shaving your pubic area, pat dry and apply anti-perspirant.
Don't wear glitter or very heavy perfume. This rubs off on the customer and makes it harder for him to be discreet about where he's just been. You may not get as many dances for this reason, so no glitter and apply perfume lightly or use a body mist.
Warnings
Don't do anything you feel is immoral - no matter what!
Never accept a customer's offer to do a private show in their home!
If they say 'what will you do for $x', walk away, they're not worth your time
You have the right and privilege to reject anyone!
The choices you make, make you and if you choose to do this you can never unchoose it.
Never do "extras" meaning acts for the customer not allowed by your club rules. You can make money without them and you never know who is an undercover cop, if the manager is watching, etc. If you can't make money by working clean, find a better club.
NEVER use baby oil on your body and don't put on lotion before you go to work. It will make you slip and fall on stage, as well as making those that follow you do the same. You could get seriously injured. So no baby oil and moisturize the night before or a good many hours before working.
