A kiss is nasty! It's exchanging bacteria and germs and food particles from a recent or old meal. When you kiss someone you don't know what or who they were kissing or eating before they came to you. It's really a disgusting act.

According to Herman Hupfield,

You must remember this
A kiss is still a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by
And when two lovers woo
They still say, "I love you"
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings...

From song, As Time Goes By.

there are many ways to define what a kiss is. the plain meaning would be when people just put thier lips together at the spur of the moment. they may feel a spark of sudden love or lust.
but if you are defining it in a sentimental point of view, it is a moment in time when you and your partner seal your love for each other. just think about it, why do you kiss in a wedding after the pastor says, you are now husband and wife.
