Technically it is ten months...people think it is only nine, but you have to complete that ninth month!

It's 9 months and several weeks but about 10 months. Who knows. I just go by weeks and it is easier not being technical. 40 weeks is close enough to 10 months but there are not 30 days in all months. It doesn't bother me either way. Also, I am 17 weeks so technically 16 weeks gestation so you are only 39 weeks when you have the baby because most doctors consider the lmp the first week of pregnancy. Odd the way they do things. I am just happy to be the full 9 or 10 months, whichever a person sees it as.

17 weeks pregnant with first

If each month were exactly 4 weeks long then there would actually be 13 months in a year (52 weeks divided by 4). Each month would only have 28 days in it. But as we know every month except February actually has more, making each month about 4.3 weeks. So there are 40 weeks in 9 months. Get out a calendar and count and you'll see that I'm right.

B/C it last a full 9 months from date of conception and due date. And the ACTUAL normal pregnancy is between 36-40 weeks. It is not quite 10 months so they can't say 10 months. Thats why most women when they are pregnant go by weeks instead of months.

It is about 282 or 283 days. 40 weeks is closer than 9 months. 10 months is more than 40 weeks and more than 283 days.

The "normal" gestational period for a "normal" pregnancy is 32 to 42 weeks. Doctors want you to gestate for the longest time your body and baby can in order to have a FULLY DEVELOPED baby with no problems. Case in point the recent 21 week old preemie that...heart, lungs, kidneys, pretty much all internal organs very much under developed...Is gonna have a very long row to hoe with the possibility of numerous hosptial stays through out her lifetime.

its all depends on how you count it! for example im am due May 12th! which puts my LMP at Augs 5th.. soo if you count augs, sept, oct, nov, dec, jan, feb, march, april, may..that would be 10 months! and if you count it starting with sept as your first month instead of augs! that would be 9months!.i hope this makes sense to you! sry if iy doesnt!
