There are two main types of planets in our solar system: the 4 small, rocky worlds close to the sun and the 4 gas giants farther out. All except Mercury and Venus have one or more moons.

Of the inner planets, Mercury is the smallest and hottest and has no atmosphere; Venus is almost as big as Earth but has suffered a "runaway greenhouse" atmosphere - permanently covered with clouds and with a temperature of 900 degrees; Earth is next and is at just the right distance for liquid water and therefore life to exist; Mars is about half the size of Earth, very cold and with a thin atmosphere.

After the asteroid belt is the largest planet Jupiter, the next largest Saturn, then Uranus and Neptune. The weather on all these planets is mostly self-generated because they are so far from the sun and receive no significant amount of heat that way.

Nobody knows how many planets are in the whole galaxy and never will because of its immense size. However, 200 or so have been discovered in the first ten years of searching, all of them very close to our own solar system, so it's safe to say there must be millions of planets out there, if not billions, since the number of stars is estimated to be between 100 and 400 billion.

Before you start worrying about this question, you might consider learning more about the English language and how to write an understandable, coherent, grammatically correct question.

"What is the difference BETWEEN the earth AND other planets in the solar system. How many planets ARE THERE in the whole (just need the word once) galaxy?"

Too many differences to describe them to you here. Each planet in our solar system is vastly different. The significant thing about earth is that it contains water and has the necessary atmosphere appropriate for life. There are billions of other galaxies out there. We are just a spec of cosmic dust. Welcome aboard!

there used to be 9. but now pluto is no longer a planet. it's just some rock which have gone out of the boundary.
Earth is different cos it's of an adequate length from the sun and our atmosphere contains oxygen, carbondioxide, nitrogen and other gases. on earth, we have water which is essential for life...

To begin with. None of the other planets in our solar system have the cartoon channel.
