They calculate your pregnancy and how far along you are from the first day of your last menstrual cycle, but the baby is not actually conceived until 2 weeks later. Therefore you are 2 weeks ahead of the baby! So yes, if you are 10 weeks the baby would be 8. Ans so on. Hope that helped a little!

You are right, at 10 weeks your fetus is about 8 weeks old. Drs. calculate it that way because while you can say for sure what the first day of your last period was, no one knows for sure when you ovulated. Average is 14 days after first day of last period but it could be sooner or later. So the only sure date to calculate by is the period.

It all depends on the definitions of time. gestational age begins from the first day of your last period which is two weeks before you conceive and this is what most doctors use and average length of pregnancy is 40 weeks. Ovulatory age begins the day you conceive average length of pregnancy is 38 weeks. hope that helps.

You know what I think is funny. Everyone says pregnancy is 9 months. But then doctors want you to carry until 40 weeks. Isn't 40 weeks, 10 months????

no pregnancy starts from conception, if you are 10 weeks pregnant then that is when the sperm fertilized the egg, Ovulation by calander is not an exact science.

the doctors do start calculating from the first day of your last period. Sounds silly but that is what they do.
