If you want to learn Chinese, then you are a brave person. Ppl who have studied Chinese as a 2nd language have complained that ppl from China have ridiculed their pronounciation and accent (American accent) when they spoke Chinese. But to answer your question, there might be some night courses in your local community college. Some Chinese churches have Saturday morning Chinese language schools (if you don't mind sitting in a class with children). I have heard of a cd rom computer course called Rosetta Stone (which teaches various languages). You have to also decide if you want to study Mandarin (which is "standard" Chinese) or Cantonese (the "Chinese" that you hear in most US Chinatowns and spoken mostly in Canton province and Hong Kong).

If you want to discover Mandarin but you have no clue exactly where to commence then a program for Mandarin is the greatest on-line course for the beginners due to the fact it actually commences with the basis.
