I am NOT asking this just because I can say one of the top numbers belongs to an Ex-Leafs player. One of my favorites by the way.. Back in his day Al Iafrate posted an amazing 106 mph slapshot. Has this been duplicated? by whom?
I know in the minors years ago Pat Macleod of the Milwaukee Admirals once registered 105 mph.

I use to hear Bobby Hull topped those numbers..

does anyone know of official numbers?

Hardest Shot - Four players from each team fire a puck into the goal. Each player receives two shots and counts the faster of the two, measured in miles-per-hour. The puck must enter the goal to be counted. A goal is awarded the team with the highest average speed and one is awarded the team with the player with the hardest shot.

To be totally honest I don't think these numbers are at all accurate. I'm not saying these responses are incorrect at all, but I do believe the method of testing is horrible. It all depends where your shot hits the net. Lower shots typically register higher than top shelfers. I know they're pros and they can shoot at a target, but some shooters shoot harder up high than they do down low, less drag.

Iafrate was definitaly one of the best, I think either Shanny and lidstrom are up there, along with pronger too, just in typical game situations.

Booby Hull"s slapshot was once clocked at 118.3 mph. I would not want to be the goalie trying to stop it!
