if this is stuff you know she would enjoy then that would be great.
My mom was very hard to shop for so I always bought her practical stuff or we would join in to buy her a larger item. Rocker, Tv with vcr/dvd, we even brought her to Vegas one time, so we gave her a paper saying your gift is an all expense paid trip to Vegas to use when you are ready. We had a great time. She will of course love anything you give her. Even maybe going to a spa, something a lot of women love but do not treat themselves to. A purse is always great and the sandals sound wonderful too, mabye bring her shopping and out to lunch, I bet you two do not spend a lot of time one on one, now that my mom is no longer around, I WISH I could spend some one on one time with her again................

Beauty products are usually a welcome gift: a good cologne, perfume she likes, lotions, moisturizers etc. Maybe a beauty make-up treatment or a manicure/pedicure or a massage.
A massage is a great gift.
Handbags are always safe for any age woman. Take a look at the purses she has now and try to get one that suits her.
Maybe a nice Spring sweater or jacket. Take her to dinner or lunch and give her a gift certificate at a nice shop.

A price range would have been nice. But, how about you take her out to a play (not movie) sometime before her birthday and a card and flowers on her birthday. Just let her get dressed up for the occasion, women of all ages love that crap. Stay away from the gift certifacte junk it's impersonal and to often goes unused.

Some nice Tiffany Jewelry, J'adore perfume....a cute purse or clutch; look at Coach, Brighton, and D&B, maybe LV if you can afford it...can't go wrong with good quality well made stuff.
Or a gift card to a nice place where she can try on shoes and buy what she likes may work.

Sure, a purse. Or an ipod, a gift certificate, a trip to the day spa, a new notebook computer, anything you would like she would likely enjoy. Life begins at 50!

most everyone has some favorite movie or tv show or book, get her some dvds that you know she would like, i could not possibly guess my mom's taste in something she would use everyday like clothes or something, she would probably say that is nice but not really like it, but what somebody finds entertaining is pretty easy to figure out and go from there, just would i do, good luck finding something

Why not give her the gift of your time? Take her out to a play and dinner or something.

My mom's 54, and I bought her Chanel No.5. That's her favorite perfume, it smells really nice without being to overpowering.
