The way your question is worded, I do not know if you mean how to apply it or in what situations it can be used.

The term lacquer can mean a clear coating or even paints with a lacquer base. The three to five thin coat method with very fine steel wool sanding in between coats works well if you tack it off well. As to the ways it can be used? Way too many to list here.

Here is a link which provides an answer, for what I think you're asking, and more. Very informative. What they don't state is that the tree used in the production of laquer is part of the sumac family, which is poison ivy, etc. If you're allergic, stay away from any laquer with the ingredient Rhua, Toxicodendren, or urushiol. If you're in the 75% catagory of people who are allergic to this, I would suggest not even inhaling the fumes. Go with an alternative substance which this site below lists as alternatives.

lacqer is a thiner/oil based surface covering/protecting coating that you apply when you want to have a mirror looking surface on wood furniture.first step is to sand smoot apply the color stain then the lacquer.hope it helps.

apply about 3 coats...sand with ex fine steel wool, between each coat.
