Glynis, were you insulted, i did not mean to insult anybody. In fact, i appreciate janitors and housewives. I just want to hear people's opinion on this question. BTW, i gave you a thumbs up.

Education is never a waste and is not just used for employment. It can teach the arts that can be used for personal enjoyment and fulfillment. Skills learned in or enhanced by college attendance can be used to better ones community. Also, a housewife, who will probably become a mother, can use her education to help her children, volunteer at school, etc.

Who are the MOST important persons in your town?
My father was a doctor and a lawyer, very clever. He was the first medical person to go on T.V. and say smoking was bad for your health; he was one of 5 doctors who began the very first environmental law in the world. I could go on and on.
In 1970 there was a dispute between garbage collectors and the council of the city of London. They asked my father to come and adujicate because he was known to be a fair and knowlegdable man.
He told the council - give the garbage men their way or this country will come to a stop.
2 days later came the rats. The Bank of England, the stock/share market the churches of London had to close their doors. Soon England would have no flow of money, people would have begun to die.
The garbage men got their way.
For the rest of his life my father would explain that ALL the educated people in the world are USELESS if we do not have Garbage men, to collect rubbish, cleaners to remove germs; janitors and others to find causes of dirt etc. and Mums to make sure their children grow up healthy.
So you stuck up person - get down on your knees and thank janitors, housewifes etc and pray that one day this world appreciates and give them credit, knowledge (even university knowledge ) to help them do their most important jobs in the world.
Oh and I've never met a doctor, lawyer, teacher etc or really educated person who did not agree.
As a teacher I would tell my students this, some vain students did not like this and they usually got to university but FAILED their courses because they were just too conceited.

I know a lot of housewives with degrees. So why would being a housewife make people think you are uneducated. Being a housewife is VERY hard work. Besides being the one to clean the house you also take care of the bills and budget out your income, take care of the kids including seeing to their education and health. You would be the family social secretary, chauffeur, delivery service, cook and party planner. Last time I checked it was one of the most demanding jobs done for free ever created. Notice how you don't see very many househusbands out there? Most men are to scared to take on that job.

Education is never a waste, however a university education is not a requirement to be a housewife or a janitor so it would be considered a waste of time and money.
