I will be in San Fran in Oct 2007 for a conference. Any suggestions on keeping an Ozzie busy for a week?

I would check out this website for restaurant recommendations: http://www.chowhound.com

You might want to walk or bicycle across the Golden Gate Bridge....and take your camera. There are some nice spots for scenic views of San Francisco and the bridge.

There are some great museums if you are interested in art or science.

If you want to go to Alcatraz, make reservations a month or 2 in advance. It is interesting.

Take the ferry from the downtown ferry building to Sausilito. It's a nice ride and seeing San Francisco from the water is great.

If you can rent a car, it would be fun to venture out for some day trips. Pt. Reyes National Seashore is a fantastic area for hiking, whale watching along the coast. It's north of San Francisco. Their website is: http://www.nps.gov/pore

If you enjoy wines, Napa Valley and Sonoma County are not far away. You also have great wineries south of San Francisco in the Santa Cruz and Monterey areas. For info on wineries and free wine tasting coupons go to: http://www.cheers2wine.com/index.html

Have a great trip!
