That is basically the center of the base at Area 51.

You will find that it is in a high resolution area and everything is quite visible. However, this does not mean that the image has not been modified, there is also really no way to know exactly how old it is.

While looking around this area be sure to go a bit further west and check out some of the craters in the Nevada Test Site.

The United States Air Force Flight Test Center controls the base. It's best known for testing exotic aircraft and weapons. The base was created in 1954.

Area 51 is a secret military facility about 90 miles north of Las Vegas. The number refers to a six by ten mile block of land, at the center of which is a large air base the United States government will not discuss. The site was selected in the mid 1950s for testing of the U-2 spyplane, due to its remoteness, proximity to existing facilities and presence of a dry lake ned for landings.

It's north of Las Vegas somewhere. About 3 miles south of my house (I used to live in Las Vegas), there was a park-n-ride lot. That was rumored to be where people who worked at Area 51 parked and then took a bus out to the site. I never saw a bus come or go, but there were always a lot of cars there.

I think its in New Mexico or Arizona, not really sure, but it does exist, I saw Independence Day (movie.) :-) Good luck, those sattelite images are probably censored or altered by the government to avoid possible enemies from knowing about military bases....
