For adventure, I reccomend Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt adventures, especially "Cyclops" and " Sahara." Douglas Preston has impressed me recently with "The Codex" and its follow up "Tyranasaur Canyon."

I have just discovered Tim Dorsey's character Surge A. Storms. Surge is a riot of non-stop chaos and insanity. If you want a good laugh, check out "Cadillac Beach."

If you are looking for a clever crime story, check out Elmore Leonard's "Riding The Rap." The plan is brilliant and the story is top notch.

Somewhere between Dorsey and Leonard comes Donald Westlake's Dortmunder stories. Dortmunder is a down on his luck crook who is the best planner in the business. "The Hot Rock," which introduced the world to Dortmunder and crazy partners in crime, was turned into a movie starring Robert Redford. The best books in the series are "Bankshot", "Why Me?", and "Drowned Hopes."

Your values will determine what you'll enjoy.

How about sci-fi, classic stuff--short stories, "The Best of Edmond Hamilton".

Or mystery--"The Little Sister" by Raymond Chandler.

Or western--"Crossfire Trail" by Louis L'Amour.

Or an adventure, "Tarzan and the Lost Empire" by Edgar Rice Burroughs, or any Captain Horatio Hornblower book by C.S, Forester
Enjoy!
