I think humans will rule earth for a very long time, long enough to find ways to inhibit other planets. I think doomsday is a hoax and we'll be around for at least a couple thousands or tens of thousands of years on Earth. Then we'll probably be able to come up with new ways to balance Earth's energy and exists virtually forever (until the Sun burns out or an asteroid takes out Earth. - but then again we may be able to shoot it down... )

Anything is possible, just because we're the first species to see it comming, doesn't mean we ave a chance to stop it. But, chances are I'll have died from old age and dug up to be examined as an ancient specimen several times over before it ever happens.

I think its a certainty that humans will become extinct in the end, because that is what happens to all species as conditions change. This is all part of life on Earth.

It is also certain that we will never colonise another planet. The first reason is that the distance are inconceivably large. But the second is that if we found another habitable planet, it would certainly already be inhabited and it would be immoral to exterminate the indiginous population. Though Americans may feel differently about this, having had a go at it once.

Rule the Earth? You mean like not getting easten or that we don't worry about bird flu, global warming and aids?
I am not sure we will be able to tame our own biology enough to survive. To survive with the power we have we will have to develop a sustainable ecology. And SOON, in your lifetime probably (but not mine). I have heard a lot of talk about it for decades but no clear way forward. I have doubts that we can stop multiplying and consuming resources so that we don't end up like Easter Island. In fact my guess is that in order to survive we will have to evolve and hence I think humans as you and I think of them will become extinct sooner than you imagine.

we are able to basically desire... :-) yet heavily, via fact the responses above stated, male/woman we are a similar species. With our present day biology we choose the male to outlive as a species and with the complexity of the human genome (or any mammal) that is no longer in all risk for the genetic make-as much as have a mutation which could make up for the disappearance of the male of the species. to no longer point out that mutations do no longer take place only via fact they could be useful. So, the ratio of adult males to women human beings could be declining yet cultural pressures (if no longer something) could be sure that they do no longer disappear thoroughly. as properly, records like which would be a classic version and at a while ought to shift returned to 50/50 or to fewer women human beings being born. we've not been preserving precise stats at this variety of subject all that long.

I think that the possibility exists for **** sapiens to become extinct. We continue to rape the planet of its resources with no real thought to the future and what happens when those resources are gone. We continue to find ways to destroy our fellow man and reasons to do so.

Like you, I hope that we find ways to prevent this from happening but the predominant short-sightedness we display in our dealings with our planet and each other makes my hope dim each passing year.
