Ok I have 512mb of memory on my computer and I would like to but another 512 stick so I can have 1gb of memory. The 512mb stick I have now is a Mushkin PC2700 DDR. So my question is, what are the key points in compatibility checking? Does the other memory stick such as PC-3200 work for my motherboard?

yes a 3200 would technically work with your computer (make sure it is DDR ram) although 3200 will have un-used performance, as the term is the team is as strong as the weakest player, so the 3200 will work as a 2700.. so i think your safe, check how many ram ports your comp has though, the minimum is 2 and i think the max is 4 (not sure though . )

yes a PC-3200 will problably work for your mother
board the ram sticks dont really have to be compatible
for example if the PC-3200 is to much for ur motherboard then
ur motherboard will just use it as a PC-2700 almost anything works so just get whatever and you'll be happy with the results
belief be it will be way faster !! so just get the PC-3200 and i can garrantee u that it will work perfectly fine

PC3200 will be backwards compatible with PC2700, yes.

Others will give you longer answers about matching the clock speed of your motherboard bus, but the short answer you want is yes, pc3200 will work.
