There are so many MEDICINAL reasons to use it, so why is it still illegal? I can understand LARGE quantities, but why not have it available in pharmacies like other drugs? No there are not any documented cases of people dying from the drug... No, I have never tried it, but realistically there are many reasons to make it available to the people who need it.

There have not been ANY documented cases of people who smoke pot to have been evil and uncontrolable...just the oppisite! If there are, please cite your sources because I am VERY interested to know about them.

And YES, pot HAS been studied...A LOT! They are trying to tear the plant apart to figure out how to make medicine from anti-nausea topain killers to anti-psycotic drugs. Numerious articles have been on Yahoo backing up what I have said.

I have never tried the drug, but everything that I have said have comes directly from research and second hand experiances from people that I have spoken to.

There isn't spell check here, so if there are mis-spelled words, I apologize for that!

You don't need to smoke pot to get the end results. Eating it does the exact same thing. The additional stuff that they put in pot is what causes cancer, not pot directly.

Hemp was quickly made illegal during the great depression under the, then unfamiliar word of "marihuana" just when a machine was built that would allow it to rival cotton's supremacy in the textile industry. If hemp's growing range wasn't so broad that it didn't run the risk of taking away some of the market share of the southern cotton industry then probably the marihuana stamp act of 1937 would never have been enacted.
there are many benefits from casual use in the category of preventive maintenance such as staying off Alzheimer's and glaucoma. What right does the government have in trying to regulate a plant that one uses without any processing what-so-ever. as a final kick, hemp fully meets the requirements for what God told Adam and Eve were safe plants to use for food (GEN 1:29).
FYI: hemp out produces trees for cellulose by over 4 to 1 and trees out produce corn for cellulose by 5 to 2 therefore hemp out does corn by 10 to 1. GWB supports corn for ethanol but it can never produce enough cellulose to fully replace gasoline but hemp could. 5% of america's land dedicated to fuel production is significate (hemp) but 50% (corn) is absurd.

Marijuana has been classified as a schedule 1 drug, and is thus illegal. Marijuana has not been well studied in terms of side effects, efficacy, and long term effects. It is a carcinogen. For some odd reason, the FDA doesn't like to approve carcinogens as drugs.
Regular pot smokers (1-2 joints per day) are at increase risk for lung cancer. It appears that the decreased ability to concentrate is a long lasting side effect, more than 1-2 days.
Marijuana has a lot of negatives to it. People have died from marijuana. It is the second most common cause of drug induced car accidents.
For many of the areas marijuana supposedly helps in, there are better drugs with less side effects. Again, there haven't been many good studies in this. The common glaucoma drugs, the prostaglandins, beta blockers, alpha agonists, all treat glaucoma better than marijuana.
The active ingredient, THC, is a legal drug, Marinol. Marinol is a schedule 3 drug. It is a tablet. The manufacturor is working on an inhaler form of this drug. It's currently in phase 2 trial.

It is simple. There are TWO reasons.

1) It is a great form of under the table revenue for the government;

2) It is so harmless that many people use it and when they get caught they pay dearly. Also, it is a great way to be able to keep people in fear and to use as an excuse to harrass and control.

Who said it has a lot of Medicinal use. Its not well studied. Illegal use is rampant due to medical Marijuana in California. WHo said there is no documented death. Granted most are indirect cause. I don't care if they fried their braindif we don't have to deal with them afterward. I had to deal once with a pothead who broke into my stuff to find a can to smoke pot. I don' know why they need a can, but It is obviously heavy use has affected his ability to think. Basically they become a burden to society.
