I have a long commute to work and go thru books like crazy. I need some ideas! I prefer murder/mysteries but I'm open to most subjects, currently listening to the Charlie Bone books. Thanks!

I recommend the Harry Potter books on tape (and yes I'm an adult.) They're read by Jim Dale and he does an amazing job of all the voices (and you learn to correctly pronounce some pretty funky names and words). As you probably know, the reader of the book can make all the difference and Jim Dale is terrific. I'm not the only adult that does this either - every time a new book comes out, my mom gets the audio book from the library too. You won't be disappointed and if you enjoy it, there's a lengthy series to keep you busy for a few weeks at least.

Happy commuting!

The audio books that I have really enjoyed are: The Kite Flyer, any J.D. Robb's books, I love Parker's books with Spenser, etc. I think it's great that the library Carry's books on tape and it doesn't cost you anything. Sometimes I listen to "books" that i could never get through reading, like Hana bil Rising, but on tape I listened to the whole thing.

Have you checked your local library? We traveled out west on Agatha Christie mysteries and mailed them back to the library or called and renewed the ones we needed longer. Free is a good price when you go through them quickly!
We also did Michael Creighton's Timeline but didn't want to stop for lunch as it got so tense near the end!

I recommend Jack Kerouac's "On the Road" and then Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" -- they're not mystery, but the readers are good to tolerable. This is important, especially if the work is long enough for several CD's.
