It is called a FRESH AIR INTAKE duct. It is where most of the air your carb
needs comes from. Not using it will not cause the car to run any different
but more dirt will get into and shorten the life of your air filter. Napa.

if the manufacturer put it there then it NEEDS to be there...

think about this....your car needs the intake tube there to meter and COOL the air for the engine..if your car has a mass airflow sensor then its very important that that tube is there. Your car will not run at all...if only for a few seconds. keep the tubes clean on the inside and check your air filter every so often.

Air filters are meant to stop small particles from entering the engine...not big stuff...your engine needs the filter to run properly.

I would go to car-part.com to see if you could get the intake tube replaced....

Don't worry about the tube. Your air filter element will protect the engine. That tube is for injecting cooler air directly into the engine. Older cars didn't use the tube.

i believe it is the intake hose could be wrong but if the hole is after the aiffilter before the carbrator then it will damage ur engine but if it is before the air filter it will be fine the filter will do its job and block the harmful materal and u can find the intake hose at any parts store

air intake....if too much debris gets to the air filter it will eventually clog it to the point your engine will not get the right amount of air flow and your car will not run anymore.
