I don't think it would. We are too used to capitalism. Anyone who has a 401K or IRA is a capitalist as well as the big industrialists or high rolling investors. We can look after our citizens as we would our families without being Communist. I think people really don't know what Communism is all about.

If your read The Communist Manifesto by Marx and Ingels you will discover, after thinking about it, that Communism doesn't work because everyone is different. Communism requires everyone to be exactly the same as everyone else. Since some people are zealous while others are lazy, some people are religious, while others are not, while some people are interested in investing and making lots of money, others are not. While some people are educated others are not. You get my point.

Few people realize what communism really is. It's not what the Soviets were, and it's not what's going on China nor North Korea.

In order to undergo REAL communism, you need to have been in a Democracy before. Democracies are good for industrialization. Industrialization is good for oppressing workers and capitalism. After the oppression of workers takes place under a Democracy, the workers will rise up (and since there are so many workers and so few owners, the revolution will be with little bloodshed-- no need for violence). Communism will then lead to people regulating themselves, which is kind of like anarchy.

You see, Communism involves evolution of different kinds of governments. The soviets never industrialized, so we can't even say that communism won't work. Who knows.

However, I find that a communist country can only be so if they have enough resources to provide for themselves. Like in N. Korea, there are such few resources that EVERYONE is living in poverty. That's why a country like Japan or N. Korea probably can't sustain a communist country. Larger countries with more resources will probably have better luck with it.

Composure ... No, I don't ever see it happening. If the state of affairs somehow degraded to the point that Communism could get a foothold, it would not be Communism in the conventional sense. For Communism to catch on in America, it would have to have been preceded by extensive anarchy, I feel.

Just looking at you avatar, if that represents you, you look too young to even know what life under Communism is all about. Let me paint a picture for you...

Let's take Vietnam as an example. Under Communist leadership, local leaders were executed, pastors, priests, and Buddhist monks were executed, those who opposed Communism were executed, people were forced to pay high taxes from their earnings to support the Communist government, children from K-12 were indoctrinated in Communist doctrine, people were indoctrinated to hate any other culture that was not Communist. Let me go on ....

You cannot speak freely, or you risk execution or imprisonment.
You cannot move freely about your country without documents or permission, neither can you leave the country without permission from the Communist government.

Your mail, e-mail, and any other personal information is screened by the government.

You do not have freedom of assembly or freedom to worship in your churches or whatever religion you choose. It's to be "State approved" or you will risk imprisonment or execution.

The government controls population. In China, little girls are considered little value. They are not valued as soldiers or workers as much as boys. So at birth, little girls were put in back rooms to starve to death. Now, there is a shortage of girls in China, and boys are having harder times finding spouses. They have been forced to seek them abroad.

Under Stalin's rule, in Soviet Russia, millions were killed that opposed Stalin and Communism. Many people were taken away, never to be seen again. Many ended up either in Russian gulags or were executed.

Food and basic necessities were scarce. And what was available cost more than most workers could afford. Medical care was scarce, as well was medical supplies.

In Communist Cuba, the people there are still driving 1950's cars. The people there live in squaller. They have limited power supplies, food supplies, medical supplies, and the necessities of life because Castro has alienated their country from the rest of the world and most countries will not trade with them due to their Communist oppression of their own people. Until that situation changes, they will remain as they are. That is why so many Cubans risked their lives to cross the ocean and escape into the U.S. Many made it. And many of those people still have family stuck in Cuba.

Communism is a cancer this world can do without. And no American would want to live under that kind of government. Many good Americans died to prevent Communism from spreading around the world. And those countries who were spared it, are definitely grateful.

It doesn't work anywhere. We've already learned this. If you want to see how well communism has worked in the past go look up the USSR, North Korea, Cuba, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania, Belarus, East Germany, Poland, and the few other places that have tried it.

No in order to have Communism you must have a leader with absolute power and that would be a slap in the face of our founding fathers but we can have some social programs because we are all in this together.

No government that does not honor the Lord Jesus Christ can stand, comunism cannot work because it is an athiestic religeon. it is your god and it alone is your every source, therefore; The Holy and Living God will not allow it to stand.. When Jesus comes to rule and reign , He will be absolute Monarch and Benevolent Dictator of the whole earth. That is the only govt that will really work on this rock.

The problem isn't whether is will work, the problem is that yanks are ignorant of it and their political spectrum is as narrow as their minds.

All vibrant democracies around the world have a wide range of political thinking, including communists, socialists, liberals, conservatives fascists, and anarchists. The separatist Parti Quebecois in Canada has _all_ those within one party, united under the dogma of separatism.

The US, with its narrow and uneducated view of other ideologies not only does not understand other ways of thinking, but does not want to know. And of course, when other ideologies are not welcomed, inevitably the political spectrum *narrows* as it has done in the past 30 years. In Jimmy Carter's presidency, the democrats were as moderate as the Liberal party in Canada; now, they are as right wing as the Canadian Conservative party (and if you knew their history, you'd know what that implies - they are an amalgam of traditional conservatives and fascists from Alberta). The two US political parties today can be described as fascist and more fascist.

Communism (really socialism) hasn't worked anywhere and it wont work here. That's why the Soviet Union collapsed, and that's why China opened itself to capitalist markets.
