I'm at 34 weeks and having the same problem. The first thing you have to do is stop stressing over the fact that you can't sleep! Feeling anxious about it is just another reason for your body to stay awake! My best advice is this:

Make your bed as comfy as possible--Pillows, pillows and more pillows. Put them all around you, under your tummy, between your knees...wherever you need them!

Have your man rub your head...the best way to get me to sleep is when mine rubs my eyebrows gently--it makes your eyes close!

Don't eat two hours before bedtime, and don't drink 3 hours before...less chance of heartburn and frequent urination.

Talk about things that are stressing you out or that have you worried with someone before bed. Doing this will help your mind settle down!

Good luck to you...hope some of this can help. AND HANG IN THERE--YOU ARE ALMOST DONE!! (I like to think my insomnia is my body's way of prepping for the newborn!)

Read! You need all the preparation you can get, and there are so many great books. These are a few of my favorites: Our Babies, Ourselves (Meredith Small) The Vital Touch (Sharon Heller) Infant Massage (Vimala Schneider Mcclure) Also, do prenatal yoga, work on strengthening your legs (strong leg muscles allow you to use a wider variety of birthing positions - on your back is often the most uncomfortable/hardest position), and practice your birthing techniques, whatever method you're choosing to use. Good Luck! I hope you have an easy birth and a healthy baby!

If you think you can't sleep now wait until you have a crying baby! Seriously, this is just to prepare you. The difference between now and when the baby is here is that once you have the baby you will be able to fall asleep anytime, anywhere... But the baby won't let you :P Try to spend as much time in bed (reading, watching tv...or resting) as humanly possible... at least you woudl be gettgin some rest, if not sleep.

That happened to me as well - i think its natures way of preparing you for what happens when you bring the bub home. I have a 7 day old baby (luckily i had him at 38.5 weeks) i was due next Tuesday.

Just rest when you can and you will be fine - good luck.

Ask your doctor about pregnancy safe sleep remedies. I had the same thing, but mine was also accompanied by pain in my back and lower abdomen. My doctor prescribed Darvocet and it took the pain away and I was finally able to sleep. I wasn't able to sleep the entire night through due to trips to the bathroom, but when I crawled back into bed, I quickly dozed off again. Good luck.

Its just your body getting ready for the birth of your baby. Sleepless nights are going to be a common thing and i believe its just your body clock getting u used to the late nights and non sleep.
