I have a sony vaio laptop which doesn't install windows although I troed to install windows about 3 times.... and also changed 3 versions of windows... what might be the cause?

the errors I'm dealing with are the type "flie not found" , error mesages and bluescreens...

Exact error message, along with the file which was not found and the OS (XP or Vista), would be helpful in troubleshooting such problems.

However, you may try formatting the hard drive and then try a fresh Windows OS installation.

May be the ntdetect.com is missing, start in a last known good configuration, check will installation its showing file not found, because there are couple of files which are needed like nt detect.com,io.sys etc. If one of them is missing u r in trouble dear

is it set to boot from the cd rom in the bios? switch on and tap del until it opens the bios and look for boot sequence and set cd rom to first, then insert windows disc and turn off, next turn on and it should automatically boot from the disc

find out if you are installing it on the wrong partition...
