Government is force, like fire it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master. Or so says George Washington.

For those who are too stupid to see past my typo yes I meant Satanic. Sorry didn't mean to confuse you I am after all a product of socialized schools.

Chimpus, you are not brave enough to allow me to respond to your answer so I'll do it here. Jesus is not a socialist. Jesus does not compel us to give to causes that we do not agree with. Jesus does not take by force. Anyone who truly understands government understands that its only legitimate function is to prevent a person’s property from being taken from him with out permission or compensation and given to someone else.

You realize Jesus was a socialist don't you?

He said that to follow him, you have to give all your earthly possessions to the poor. He also said it is impossible for a rich person to get into heaven.

Are you saying Jesus was satanic, or that Christianity is a really bad idea?

Ethan: Try reading the bible once in a while before you expose even more of your ignorance. Jesus was the prototypical liberal/socialist. If all the hypocrites who call themselves "Christians" actually practiced what Jesus preached, nobody would have ever felt the need to invent government socialism.

Please cite your source of George Washington saying that.

Socialism is not satinic, what ever that is. If you mean satanic it is not that either. Radicals always see the other side as something evil and they are no more satanic than the Facists at the opposite end of the political spectrum.

It is an idea that ignores the human qualities of greed and ambition.

I have actually had liberals tell me the only reason it has failed everywhere is because the wrong people are in control. It is social engineering and I can't imagine anyone wanting to live that way.

It's not a bad idea to the hundreds of millions of people in socialized countries who enjoy universal health care, and decent sick pay, vacation and retirement benefits.

i believe that democracy is necessary and that entrepeneurialism is vital to a progressive, thriving economy, so as long as socialism exists in its present forms, it just doesn't work.
