Thats a personal decision and it really depends on you. You know yourself best and if you think that you can no longer "handle" your thoughts or feelings, then it might be a good idea to see a psychiatrist, who can help you sort things out. Psychiatrists are able to reccomend perscription drugs that may help if you are diagnosed with a chemical inbalance. A psychologist or therapist might also be helpful though because it will give you a chance to talk to someone who is neutral and outside your life about your feelings.

It could be that you do have a chemical imbalance...see a doctor first, as you may be able to take something for it.
I had one...and was really bad news...a little while after meds...my life has changed for the better...Please seek doctors help, and be willing to try to get better.
Also...If doctor tells you to start on one tablet, ask if you can take a half at first. It can help like you would not believe.

you should see one when you feel extremely confussed and imbalance in you. certain ppl will go for certain ways to look for answers or even they dun expecting any answers but just want to have peace in mind so someone go pray, someone do things that they won't do, someone go travel alone, etc. you basicly know what happened to you in your mind and you know there is always few ways to help you so don't think too much and see if you can expect anything changes from seeking a psychiatrist. good luck.

People who recongize that seeing a proffessional will help them are not going crazy it's when you think everyone is the blame for your unhappiness you are right all the time then you have a problem. with professional help you do become a much more balance person but only if you are truthful in your session and honestly tell all accounts even unpleasent ones from yourself. that's when you will get good results.

In my case, it was evident from my failing marriage and failing career that I needed professional help. I started with a therapist, and she referred me to a psychiatrist. It took some time, and some trial and error with medication, but once I was under successful treatment, I felt better, and was happier and more effective than I had been in 20 years. Look, if you go to one appointment, just to have an assessment, it is not committing you to a lifetime of regular visits. You owe it to yourself to seek help.

When you get hung up on a problem and can't let it go. Neurosis is putting too much emphasis on one subject. If you get hung up you can't enjoy life. Don't waste your life away being unhappy. Be brave and get help from someone you trust and respect. You have to believe you deserve to be happy. Sometimes a person does not believe they deserve to be happy. Be good to yourself. You can do it if you want to.

I think you probably should see one to make sure that you don't have an affective disorder (ps. having an affective disorder does NOT mean that you are "crazy")
Also, it might be good to seek counseling as well, to help you through this time, whether or not the psychiatrist decides that you do or do not have an affective disorder.

You don't really know. But I think when you need to talk to someone and you can't trust anyone.... then that would be a good time to look into it! I have one person i talk to and I know I trust him. So you should just try it out.

No one here can help you; only a shrink can so why are you putting yourself through this pain needlessly? What purpose does this serve? If you don't get it treated then you will doom yourself to more bouts of depression, and more severe bouts of depression for the rest of your life. Don't be a fool.
