Well, I called Comcast yesterday and was told they do not require a social or credit check. Since a few responses here state differently, I'll call again just to be sure.

Hi there
I work at comcast in the billing department. You are NOT required to provide your social security number when you're starting new services. If you are told that it required hang up and call back bcuz it's not. No credit checks are done at all either! Have fun and get a DVR!
