If it's worth doing, it's worth writing about. Write about your life's experiences, and your thoughts/feelings about them.

Anything that you're interested in. Start with something you know through personal or work experience, or from a hobby, or from an interest. Listen to people, and see what they come up with that's interesting. Don't write for sales, but write your driving interest, and learn how to do so by writing every day and trying different things out. One author (Raymond Hull, in WRITING IN CANADA — an old book that I read over thirty years ago) advised new writers to start a notebook journal and write a milllion words till they got thoroughly used to turning out copy. I've written for publication since I was 15, made my living in part from writing (often writing reports as a consultant) and I am still writing as a retiree (including a column every couople of weeks in a community paper). I enjoy it, I make a few dolllars from it (nothing huge) and I write things that interest me and that apparently interest others, judging from reactions of people that I meet. And since I'm interested in lots of things, and keep active so I encounter new things I'm curious about, I never run out of things to write about. You can do the same. Good luck.

Added:

When I said "Don't write for sales" I didn't inend to disparage writing that made some money. To the contrary. But I believe that the way you develop as a saleable author is to follow up on storng interests, learn how to write about them to engage the interest of other peoples, and gradually develop a sense of where your interests and a market (there are many, many market niches) intersect. That is more likely to lead to success than trying to anticipate what will sell and then distorting your own interests solely in order to exploit what you imagine will be a profitable market.

Hi, there's a quote that says: Anyone who has survived their own childhood will never run out of material.

"Worth" -- Do you mean what sells? Or what's emotionally satisfying for YOU? If it's money you want, try to find a market niche that is currently untapped and create an entirely new genre. Years ago vampires did not have goth fashion and wannabe's, nor did they have insight to their thoughts... see what Anne Rice started? Good luck!

Entertaining situations, are fun to read about, of course personally I am a sucker for a WELL written vampire story, or any other supernatural themed novel. Happy Writing
