three separate states, possibly in a loose and unstable Federation, but possibly quite independent. There might be an international stewardship or continuiing economic missiion. It's possible that, if the Middle Eastern states are involved in a negotiation to settle the arrangements in Iran, that the Sunni areas in the center and west (to the extent they can be defined) mighjt be linked to Syria under a revived and tolerated Ba'athist regime.
If something like this is emerging, it would be more likelly to start to emerge in about five to seven years (after some intensified internal fighting). Conceivably, the horrors of an Iraqi civil war would scare even Iran (whose main interest would be to prevent a Kurdish rising in its north) and there might be some covert cooperation to stabilize the situation — but I'm not too optimistic about this. If, however, this is the general shape of the denouement in Iraq (which was an artificial state that brought disparate forces together in the 1920s as a convenience to British-French interests in the Middle East) then it could take a full 20-30 years to evolve if given a shaky start in the short term that would follow American disengagement.
Ot moight, however, be far worse no matter whether or not the U.S. stays the course.

In five years, Iraq will become desolate, if American's & the other nations pull out, I don't think they would have much hope. We can not continue to babysit the new troops for Iraq. They should be well trained by now. Most of the Iraqis are leaving there homeland in staggering numbers. The middle east has always been a hot-bed of evil. It will continue to do so until the return of Jesus Christ.

A hell hole of religious, sectarian and ethnic killing; a failed state, where there is no real law and order. The country will begin to slowly be divided along sectarian lines into more or less three states, which is good, since that is what the majority want and that seems to be the only way the country can avoid continuous violence.
Years, probably even a decade of bloodshed will lead to the following result: A Shiite state in the south, with more or less close ties to Iran, an Islamist Sunni state in the center and west and more or less independent Kurdish state in the north. That is where the country is heading and that is where we should allow it to go.

will be in the same civil war state it is now, with the only thing thats changed is the amount of casualties caught in the center.
Why?
because of americas current administration.
One could argue that the democrats are to blame as well, but to be at all honest, when republicans declare they will filibuster every plan democrats make, and with democrats not being able to have the numbers ebough to get past a presidential veto, I say the republicans by far are the reason why this is such a mess.
They are forcing democrats into a corner that leaves them the only choice but to defund the war or not.
And all the proposals that are good answers to these problems, will go unattempted.
Because republicans hodl their position, its there way or no other way

Conditions in Iraq are horrible. Let us hope for the better. Total destruction or road to peace and prosperity, choice is with Iraqi people. I hope that Iraq will its way to peace and prosperity.

i think that in 5 years iraq will be a complete train wreck and it will be beyond repair and to be honest i don't think it will be such a bad thing, there have been polls that the public over there, 8 out of 10 people agree with the killing of u.s. troops.it's clear that they don't appreciate our help and i think we should issue a complete pull out of american soldiers.
