Face it, we have quite a situation on hand...
Too many leaders are making too many close minded decisions that aren't in the best interest of anybody
Too many people blindly put their faith in these leaders and see the world through the media
Too many of the people who take a stance against this are just as close midned and reckless as the leaders that perpetuate the major problems in the world
Will people wake up or will we just continue to annihilate humanity and the world around us?

My reference has less to do with a problem but more to do what we are told the problem is and how it needs to be fixed. So many people blindly support their leaders no questions asked and believe the world is how the media portrays it and the peopel who take a stand against any of this or try get real issues publicized are more often than not just as crazily blidn as the decision makers. So in the end most people are completely in the dark about what is really going on in the world. People need to be much more open minded and patient.

I thought I was one of the only few non-Christian believers in the End of the World.
God doesn't need to end the world - we're doing a very good job of that already.
I agree with your basic assessment. It points to the ultimate source of the problem: individual awareness, which affects global consciousness. We have the governments and society we have today because they reflect ... ourselves. If they exist and act as they do, it's because we accept their existence & permit their actions.
And individual awareness is largely influenced by how we are educated and raised by our parents, schools, culture, and society. When we're young, we're taught to compete individually for ourselves - grades, sports, achievement, etc. We learn about US history and how the US is so great - not about world history, and how the world is important as well. Not to mention the subject of "world peace". When it comes to money, we're not even taught basic finance, much less other economic systems. So is it any wonder that the majority of Americans are more self-interested, know little about the rest of the world, financially uneducated, and think capitalism is the only way?
We are the way we are, because we learned (and later on chose) to be this way - not because we were born this way.
The only solution I see is to raise your own consciousness, after which you will naturally affect those of others. As you say, we have to wake up ourselves first, before we can wake up others. But whether others decide to listen and wake up, that's their own choice - they may very well decide to go back to sleep, as I'm sure you know.

You are so right. But sometimes it creeps up on a society like in our case (the USA) In the beginning the president and elected officials were for the people, but somewhere along the line, they became for big business and their own prophets even putting that before the good of the country and the people. And now what do we do? There are no good officials to vote for. The media always plays a slant and lies, printing whatever their supporters want to hear or whatever will sell their goods. How do we fix it? I don't know.

Human history is full of violence against each other and the world itself. I don't hold out much hope that it will ever change. World "leaders" for the most part are just looking out for numero uno.

You should read the Bible and you will know that this system of things is soon coming to a end with Armageddon. Jehovah God will wipe out the evil and create a perfect world once again for all of man kind (who exercise faith in the lord and his word of course) to live for 1000 years until the devil will be released and all who follow him will be wiped away and then all of the rest of the people will live in everlasting perfection!

i like this question. good on you for putting it out there.
i think most people are just sheep and if some people wake up and rant and rave and make a scene others will catch on.
but honestly. i dont know what to make of all this, and im not quite sure in what this rant you are refering to, global warming? politicians spending tax payers money on gardens? sending our soldiers over to fight a war we arent really involved in?
its all crazy

So, what are you actively doing to change the situation, besides complaining about it? Do you think writing to a Q/A site is going to make one little bit of difference? Get real!

What's going on is that they are too many of us.
Any species will form subgroups that turn on each other when in competition.
Thoughts are useless in trying to mitigate these natural life processes.
Give it up.

Good question that we shall never know the answer to. If people do wake up it will be too late.
