The escalation of what every expert has already been saying...that America cannot continue to compete in the job market, technology, medicine, you name it. And who will
get the blame?...you guessed it....the high school and
grade school educators.

Universities are having to gradually lower standards in order
to have enought students who can pass entrance exams.

But it is not the h.s./grade school educator's fault in the least. It is constant and consistent pressure from Washington, from minority groups, from every side, place upon educators to make sure that everyone has an equal chance, that "no child is left behind".
Unachievable standards are then placed on the schools in the
form of standardized tests...tests which are supposed to measure the achievement of the schools.

So in order to educate the uneducatable, and at the same time
meet the standards placed upon them by the "government",
the teachers spend more time teaching students how to pass the "no child left behind test" than teaching them
the things they really need to know. It is a vicious circle.

Too many graduates may know how to pass a standardized test, but they can't spell, write, add or subtract. The other graduates, those who are capable, end up having never been taught
what they really need to know. To fail is a no, no in today's society. And we are applying it to education to our
detriment.

I remember a time when we had special education and
I think we had better return to it. Special education for
those who demonstrate an ability and a desire to achieve
in education....and special education for those who are
not so gifted, or who could care less about an education.
