3) Depends.

It entirely depends on the social circle you are referring to. I saw someone lay out a list of places that she thought it was and was not acceptable. In actuality, your question refers to "Social acceptance".

Break this down... the social part refers to the interaction of 2 or more people. Now certain people find things acceptable that others do not. To answer the question properly, you have to take into consideration the people involved in the particular social situation. If a person or people "swear or curse", then odds are it is socially acceptable for others to do so around them. If the person or people do not, then odds are it is not socially acceptable and could be offensive. In addition, never assume that everyone in a crowd of people will consider it acceptable. Often times there is 1 person in the crowd that may get offended, even if everyone else there is doing the same thing.

Finally, there is comfort level, familiarity and situation to take into consideration. By this I mean that someone may be more apt to swear when having a party with their friends than when they are when entertaining a business client from overseas they just met.

Hope this helps...

3/Depends

it depends on who you are around, which group of people. in a group of friends/people who are comfortable with swearing than yes its socially acceptable in that setting.

if you are giving a speech to a middle school class, or around a bunch of people who are offended by swearing, or in an interview, etc you get my point, swearing isn't socially acceptable.

it just depends on what social situation you are in at the time.

3/ Depends.

While I and none of the people I associate with socially would ever consider swearing to be socially acceptable, there are many groups that do. So it all depends on which social group you are with.

i think it depends on the way you were brought up and the company you keep. I swear alot and so does everyone around me. That's how i like it. It's only words. profanity gives us an awesome array of verbs, nouns, and adjectives. I would hate to not incorporate them into my arsenal of vocabulary words.

No way. It's a sign of being low class. Not everyone wants to hear your cellphone calls, hear you swearing, or know about your baby daddy. It's tacky and for the love of god just stop it. There are little kids everywhere that don't need to hear your filthy mouth.

Yes, sadly it is acceptable in today's society.

God's word says, " May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer". Psalm 19:14.
