That's the thing, when you do something for someone, other than yourself, make sure you are doing it for the right reason. BECAUSE YOU WANT TOO. Once you start to do things for other, and you feel you are not appreciated, resentment starts to build up, than it turns into hurt within you. If you truly do-not feel like doing something for someone, you need to be honest, and say how you feel, It might very well hurt their feelings, but you won't be going against how YOU feel within, which is the most important thing. When you are doing what your doing, remind yourself what a good job you are doing. Give yourself the thumps up, because you are doing a good thing, and whats wrong with giving yourself credit due! NOTHING! It's when you go against your own morals, is when you start to feel uneasy with yourself!

Many times I feel like this but I take pride in what I did for the family or for the person. I know how much effort it took and I know how hard I worked and I too can see the finished product so that makes me feel good. It just feels good to give and or do something nice for someone else.

Welcome to life, motherhood, and being a wife.

Change your attitude to be happy to serve your children and husband.

Say little things like, "Wow! Didn't momma's meat loaf taste really good tonight?" or "Honey, doesn't the living room look really nice tonight?"

After a while they may start giving you compliments without having to probe for them.

Also, take time for yourself. Take a bubble bath, go buy yourself something you want etc. You do work hard and deserve it.

It is very sad when people don't appreciate what you do for them and I was always told it was my job to do it and I did it and now I don't do it and neither does anyone else. I had to focus my time, energy, and hard work on something I could appreciate. I dug out flowerbeds and planted tons of flowers, I love it when people waking by compliment how nice the yard looks. I became a Mary Kay consultant and focus on my customers and their needs and they appreciate my time. Just try focusing on something that will please you. Good Luck!

Well if you don't feel appreciated, then I would stop working so hard. Believe me, it WILL be noticed. During the time you're not working so hard to please the other person, start taking time to find out what makes YOU happy. Spend time with your friends, your family - do things you enjoy.
