No. There is definitely nothing strange about a women guitarist playing a solo.
I've seen girls who are just as hardrock as some of the heaviest bands and possess just as much talent.
Let's take the heavy metal all chick band Kittie. They're a creative all metal band and one of my influences, too. It's amazing to see an all girl band who can rock as hard as Metallica.
Also, Melissa Etheridge is a goddess. Her guitar skills are out of this world & she also has many other influences other than music. (gay rights & cancer awareness)
I dont understand why the rock-n-roll world single out women when it comes to music. It should be something that comes from the heart - and shouldn't be considered "strange" based on stereotypes. Anyone can do anything they want and shouldn't be singled out just because of their race, gender, or orientation.
I'm kind of tired of sexist critics when it comes to rock music.

Absolutely not, there is nothing wrong with women guitarists or them playing solo's. I come to this conclusion because my sister plays guitar regularly at an open mic in a blues cafe.

There's nothing strange at all about a woman playing a guitar solo. I can't remember if her
name is Leona or Fiona Boyd, but she plays beautifully.

Not at all. There are some awesome woman guitar players out there who only play solo, Leona Boyd for instance.

the days are over when a female guitarist needs to do the goochi-goochi to get her guitar talents noticed like "Charo" had to. AND there's nothing wrong with them or strange.
