I love tall, dark haired men but I usually end up flirting with blond guys. Then as things go forward I realize there's no chemistry and that I'm not really attracted to them.
Why do I keep doing this?

Maybe out of a fear of some kind. I mean maybe you flirt with the blond guys because you feel like its "safe" since you are not attracted to them. And maybe you are too afraid, or shy to flirt with the guys you are attracted too.

Self- sabotage?
Is it that you are afraid that the tall dark haired men won't go for you?
Or
Is there some part of you that is convinced that there is something wrong with you having a relationship with a tall dark-haired man? Say, a father or brother of yours might fit that broad description and your brain registers such as "off-limits"
Whatever the cause, you have succeeded in solving the problem by recognizing it. Next time you catch yourself flirting with a blonde guy, just tell yourself to stop. Excuse yourself, and aim yourself towards the right targets.

There is nothing to lose when you flirt with those you don't want. If you flirt with the one that you really want, but you do it wrong, you condemn yourself to the 'what if's that go with screwing up potential.
That is why some people end up flirting with the "friend" of the person of their affection.
It ends up feeling manipulative from the other end though, so aim for what you truly want and know that you have the flirty skills you need because they have worked before.

You do this because you're female! Every girl I know, including myself, say they like one type, but end up flirting with another! I like tall, emo guys, but I flirt with preppy guys CONSTANTLY! I went to a local college professor who teaches Psychology, and she said it's common, and that it even happened to her. Dont worry, this'll tend to happen until you find that special someone.

Maybe the thought of having a decent relationship scares you... so you date/flirt with someone who you could not possibly be attracted to thus sabotaging your chances of a fulfilling relationship.

it is because you do not feel threatened by the blond guy as much as you do the dark haired guy. Its easier for you to talk to Blondie guys because you think less of them and harder for you to talk to dark haired guys because you build them up so much.
