I agree with the guy ahead of me; unless they offer you double, the experience of a more responsible position will pay higher dividends in the long run.

You can ask the other co. if they will allow you to take on more responsibility, too, or if it's a stepping stone to a higher position.

Sometimes, companies that are struggling will throw lots of money at mid-level positions in the hopes that direct management of employees will solve their financial problems. Usually, this practice will either pay off or cause a closure of the co/plant within 18 months to two years. Be aware that a high salary offer may just be an attempt to save a facility that is destined to close. Interview for that other position, but be very frank about your expectations and gage their responses to some uncomfortable questions about their financial position in that particular industry.

Paramount is to be aware that niether co. gives a damn about you, your ability, or your future with them. They will move off-shore in the blink of an eye if it suits their bottom line. You've got to look out for YOU.

You need to do an on-line analysis of the area where you'd be moving.... sometimes all this grande-ous money doesn't mean much if you're cost of living is higher. You really have to do a little "engineering work" in finding out what it takes to live somewhere vs. where you are...... 40,000 in some areas is like $65,000 other places........ so you have to be very careful.

well without details i would say it depends on what each company has to offer not just now but also in the future. make a list and see which one has the most to offer.
