It is very difficult to compare two greats. But i'll give u a certain aspects by which u could find out who is 'relatively' great than the other.
1. Newton was born and brought up in very rich family and had access to good education, whereas Einstein didn't have this luxury.
2. Newton's ideas were based on frames mostly catering to daytoday experiences, but, Einstein's models are both applicable in daytoday models as well as frames moving at very high speeds, comparable to light.
3. Newton was basically an academycian, having no reportable interest in world affairs like politics etc. However Einstein had many interests. The famous quote " 100 years from now poeple will not believe Gandhi was human" came from him!
4. Newton didn't face a world war, but Einstein faced Two! and he was a German, see the difficulty!
5. Over all as Chrlie Chaplin said " people admire me as they understand me and people admire him (Einstein) as they dont understand him", came after the famous "special theory of relativity" which is still difficult to comprehend now.
So, who is is the greatest, non other than " Albert Einstein"

As Einsteing put it all knowledge of Physics available then could be put in 4 books.
& (some one) we proceed ahead by standing on the shoulders of giants
The point im trying to make here is progress in science is possible by combining the work of other scientists
The work of both has been revolutionary
Do you think theroy of relativity would exit without understanding of gravity.
or studying physics without Calculus ( i wish , all that effort in studying the 5 page long derivations would have been saved before the exams0
who knows that what we will discover next based on some theory which may have been put forward by an earlier scientist
Einstein spent the latter part of his life looking for a unified theory that would explain all the physical phenomenon .
If someone does come up with the unified theory looking at Einsteins work .
We may consider his work to be the most influential
Another aspect .
Not considering them for their contribution to science and just looking at their philosophy towards life and general quotes, I will vote for Einstein
Imagination is more important than knowledge
(since march is close) The hardest thing in the world to understand is incometax
I guess Einstein was more vocal than others.
We all must have read how fogetful he has been . Even remembering the ladies . (clever strategy - got even more babes)
Einstein may just win by a margin , consdering the whole picture

Ur question is like whom do U love: Ur Mom? or Ur Dad?
Newton can be consider as the Great Mom of physics. It was he who gave us the concept of Gravity & famous Newtonian Laws which we follow in our daily life, remember the 3rd Law? Newton is the undisputed King of Physics. Einstein on the other hand improved the Newtonian concepts so that they r very useful in the region of Space.Newton explained Physics at Atomic level & Einstein at Quantum level. I consider Both to be the two sides of the coin called Physics

Einstein, without a doubt is great. He was able to understand and play around with more complex phenomena and laws that Newton wouldn't dream about. Newton deals with straight forward physical observations and described them in simple mathematical formulas.

Einstein ! Because Newton discussed at atomic level but Einstein had all his discussions at quantum (energy) level.

Both are great, for different reasons.
Newton created his own math, when the math available wouldn't work. Described and mathematically defined motion.
Einstein described the nature of light and gravity.

both r great.
newton gave the law of gravitation and laws of motion and a lot more in the field of physics.
einstein gave the theory of relativity which makes him great.
therte is no comparision between the two.
but i dont like any of them, becoz they invented study and mathematics

Sir Isaac Newton is the man! He was having trouble with physics (dont we all?) and needed a tool to ease his study, so he invented Calculus.
