The mechanism is that thing in a society that keeps it's people within culture bounds of what is acceptable behavior.

In primitive cultures, the mechanism for social control is shame, ostracism, public beatings, etc.

In America, the mechanism for social control is jail sentences, payment of money for breaking the law. Arrest and court procedure are our rituals for shaming an individual.

Our founders knew what social justice meant because America was an escape FROM it. Social justice is the opposite of the EQUAL justice outlined in the Constitution. It's justice based on gov't approved class or group. Britain royalty treated American emigrees differently than royal relatives or landlords in Britain. You know the story of Obama's aunt who came to the US 10 years ago asking for asylum. She was denied asymlum in 2004 and was ordered deported. She's still in the US. An example of social justice?
