The Original Guns N' Roses vs. Old School Metallica: Who Has The Upper Edge?

Omgoodness, well this is a tuffy!

Orginial GnR....was awesome! Axel and Tracii Guns, OMG!!!! Awesome!!

Then when Duff and Slash came on board....wow! I once had a cassette tape of them practicing *November Rain*....really it was just Axel on the piano, and you could hear Slash talking in the background.....it was sooo awesome!!

But then, Metallica......James and Lars were awesome too....

I don't really think there can be a comparison.....yeah they were both heavy metal but GnR always seemed a little bit more *glam* than Metallica. Even when James and Lars cut their hair....they still had that edge...

Okay, it took me X number of words to come to my conclusion.......Metallica!

Up until tonight I would have said guns n roses but there was a
show on classic rock tv about metallica and I heard them from
when they began and were live and raw and how they evolved
and I must say they Metallica has gone full circle and had and has
the edge.
I have listened and love alot of guns n roses songs and videos but
Metallica is like a level higher .

Guns N' Roses every day of the week, and twice on Sunday: better songs, clips, fights, drug & alcohol problems, street credibility.
I've got one word for Metallica and street credibility ... Napster!

Metallica....hands down. Metallica was one of the bands that brought the kind of metal they play to the forefront. They had a very original sound. And you couldn't touch them live. In concert, they were the best. I saw them on the Ride the Lightning tour with Cliff Burton. They totally blew me away. Needless to say, I've seen them many tiimes since.

observed them co headline decrease back at the same time as the Use Your phantasm albums and the Black album were new. Metallica in simple terms blew GnR off the extent. it really is not any longer even close. I wasn't a Metallica fan on the starting up of the tutor yet i became at the same time as it became over.

Vocalists - James Hetfield vs. Axl Rose
Although Axl is regarded as one of the best vocalists ever, Hetfield has an edge over him vocally... better voice basically, and Axl cant touch his lyrics... Hetfield wins

Guitarists -
James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett vs. Slash and Izzy Straidlin
No competition, Slash against one of Metallica's guitarists seperately is close, but he's still not as good as Hetfield, though you could argue Hammett... Slash/Straidlin have one signature riff, Sweet Child Of Mine, Hetfield/Hammett? Enter Sandman, Master Of Puppets, Sad But True, Seek & Destroy, One... P.S. Izzy isnt much of guitarist at all anyway!... Hetfied/Hammett win

Drummers - Lars Ulrich vs. Steven Adler or Matt Sorum
C'mon people, Steven wasnt that good anyway, and Matt was slightly better... but Lars has the speed, listen to Battery, Fight Fire With Fire or Damage Inc., and originality, listen to Harvester Of Sorrow, Seek and Destroy or The Thing That Should Not Be... Lars wins

Bassists - Cliff Burton/Jason Newsted vs. Duff McKagan
Okay, we could end it right here, because Cliff Burton is the best bassist of all time, bass solo's and amazing bass-lines, I don't know about Jason vs. Duff, but with bass lines like Blackened and My Friend Of Misery, hed might win... Cliff/Newsted (but mostly Cliff) win

Albums
Old school Metallica released 5 full lenght albums... Kill 'Em All put Trash Metal on the map, Ride The Lightning have been regarded as two of the best metal albums of all time... and are, ...And Justice For All is amazing and Metallica is even better than Justice. Guns N' Roses have Appetite For Destruction and Use Your Illusion to show for their WHOLE career... the rest is crap, and most of Metallica's first albums were better than Appetite anyway... Metallica win

Metallica have way better songs, and more better songs... give me One, The Unforgiven, Battery, Orion and Fade To Black any day over Sweet Child O' Mine... the one hit wonder... Metallica win

People say that GN'R were better than Metallica live... HA! Not only did Metallica have better shows, but they also ALWAYS did them, unlike GN'R, like that *** Axl, who walked of stage half the time... dedication? No way... Metallica win

Guns "N" Roses. I like their music better. Although I like Metallica as well, I just hear early Metallica stuff is thrashed.

What kind of 'upper edge?' If you ask me, I say GNR. Mostly because I hate Metallica.
