Can't we all just get along? I mean, sure, we have different values, but surely we don't need to be making snarky jabs at each other all the time?

It all boils down to politics.
Both sides need to please and appeal to their voters.

Unfortunately, politicians merely see it all as a "game."

well, over the past 6 yrs or so we've had this "Uniter" in the Whitehouse and when he was first installed in the Oval Office and all the branches of the US government was in neoCON control the neoCONNED had a gloatathon. now the country is entrenched in a unwinnable war in Iraq, Afghanistan is falling back into Taliban rule, Osama Bin Laden is still on the loose, we're TRILLIONS of dollars in debt (mostly to the communist Chinese),
the environment is trashed, the middle class is disappearing, food and gas prices are sky high, health care is unaffordable, the public school system is a joke, the Gulf Coast is STILL looks like a war zone and the only ones getting ahead are GW's "have and have more" base. sooooooo

the Liberals are sneering "see? I told ya so" and the neoCONNED are feeling defensive. America won't be a united country until we have some leaders who unite instead of divide, who serve all of We the People instead of just their wealthy cronies and who care about the will and well being of all Americans and not just give pandering lip service to the easily duped.

No, we can't get along but that is the first time, I've seen that question since the Liberals have won back the Congress,Senate and all know we will take the White House. It isn't the liberals we have been run to the dogs over a private act that Bill Clinton did and have been put down to low murders, called communist and named we have been called isn't in the English language. But, your sweet to ask but I'm sorry we just are sick of being put down like dogs. We are Democrats and we love are party and we're proud of our party . Thanks Anyway

Why? Being snarky and evil is what makes politics such a great spectator's sport. You want to see your side win, you NEED to see the other guy's lose so you can rub their faces in it later. It's all part of the game.

Civilized debate can and does happen. O'Reilly Factor. No unbacked smearing. O'Reilly is fair, the only people he really gets on are those judges that let child rapists go free and people who hide behind the first amendment. What's the harm in that?

Keith Olbermann, a liberal commentator, has a "Worst Person in the World" segment on his show. It is rediculous. The American people have identified him as an idiot who randomly makes fun of everyone instead of having civilized debate, so the only people who watch him are urbanites who sit around drinking Frapiccinos in Starbucks.

You can't 'just get along' with people like Jerry Falwell, Bill (the Dildo) O'Reilly and Ann Coulter. Or Osama bin Laden for that matter.

There needs to be debate. That's what democracy is about. But there no sense in silly personal attacks and demonizing those who think differently. That's pointless.

Ya, it is getting a little out of hand. Let's just all agree that liberals are tree hugging, commie supporting, criminal loving, socialists. And that Conservatives love freedom and believe in the rule of law.

I'm a democrat. I'm willing to get along with the republican. Unfortunately the republican is a party built on hate, greed, and intolerance. How can anyone get along with them ?
