Very little time and effort involved. You need to have a website first. If you do, then just go to Google, create an account and get your Adsense publisher ID. Then choose what size and type of ads you want and paste the html code into your website.

DEFINITELY it is worth the effort. You just write the content, and you don't even have to do any hard selling and you can already earn money from Adsense.

However, understand that NOT ALL sites fit well with Adsense. Some sites do very well with the program -- like the dating site PlentyofFish.com that did over a million last year -- while many more sites can't even earn $10 from the program. One of the worst misconceptions people have about the program is that you simply slap the Adsense code on your pages and you will start earning thousands immediately -- only to find that they can't even make the minimum cut off payment of $100

To earn from the program well, you need to have:

- an audience who are responsive to ads
- topic that attracts a lot of advertisers
- high paying topics (even better, diversified topics to counter the swings for advertising bidding no particular keywords)
- significant traffic
- optimal implementation of ads in terms of choosing the best ad format, best layout, best colors for your site

Absolutely! Skip the affliate programs and other banner systems. Google Adsense is the ONLY program I've seen to generate a profit for sites.
